Why build a website?
Are you one of these people?
I frankly hate WordPress, and my whole website bugs me. LOL. I’m not as rushed to finish it since I’m doing great with referrals and my LinkedIn strategy. I’m focused on getting up the revenue so I can hand over my gnarly website to somebody else.
It eats my stuff. I don’t like learning it. It’s time consuming. I want to get better at SEO positioning but I’m not there yet.
Or are you one of these people?
If theres no website I’d be quite suspicious…
I think it’s seriously important for service based businesses to have a website so they can demonstrate their experience, skills and knowledge. It builds trust and is a great place to share case studies and testimonials.
You might be asking yourself… do I have enough time, or enough money, to have a website? Well it’s important to remember that people spend time and money on what they value. Why would you value having a website?
There are several reasons.
First of all, having a website helps people find you.
A good website works for you, gathers traction, improves visibility and sends people to your socials. Having current, substantative information on multiple platforms boosts your SEO – Search Engine Optimization. When people search for you, they’re more likely to find you.
Another reason is that social media is temporary and a website is not.
A website can help you build your own email list, too. You can literally lose your social media account at any time and there is very little recourse. You don’t own any of your social media. If someone shuts down Twitter you lose your account, but a properly set up website shouldn’t go anywhere without the demise of the whole internet.
Even a landing page for a lead magnet to collect contact info is better than no website. Email marketing is much more targeted and has a far greater ROI than social media alone.
There are several ways to make a website:
You can create a Mailchimp landing page and collect emails
You can use Google sites
You can use WordPress either on a hosting platform or let WordPress host it
You can use Wix
You can you Squarespace
You can use ShowIt
You can use Kajabi
You can even code it by hand!
