My Story

My story begins in the second grade. I learned about the civil rights movement, how people of different races have not always had the same ease of moving forward in society, and how women and men haven’t either for that matter. But as I grew I never felt that being a women held me back from any opportunity. I participated in sports. And in math. And learned computer science.

I began as a young professional as a programmer and missed my camp counselor days of helping kids. So I transitioned from high tech to the nonprofit sector. And when they asked if I could build their website I said ok I can help… but can I also get involved with other things like recruitment, organizing meetings, and teaching? Great, thanks!

I went off to grad school to get my mba and found myself in web development again as a side job while a student so that the student loan damage wouldn’t be so bad. But in the end the person who helped me to finish paying off my student loans was my husband. He moved into my condo, helped me pay my mortgage, and liberated me to start a nonprofit, as I had always dreamed! It was focused on connecting college students with community service opportunities. To help them get acquainted with the real world before graduating, and to develop their skills for a good cause.

We started having kids and he dreamed of moving back to his home country, so I helped him do that. I found remote work for a college and had a couple more kids. Then I decided to get trained as an English teacher. And boom, the pandemic hit. That’s when I pivoted to become a coach.

Ultimately, I realize that the bodily changes that come with being a woman and birthing children do sometimes impact us women to shift our life priorities. Women do have monthly cycles that enable us to create life. We grow food for our babies from our bodies. Much as we like to be considered “equal” we are different from men. Before I had children, my perspective of the “equality” equation was different. After I had kids, my career ambitions changed. I wanted to be available to raise my kids and wanted to choose professions that would allow me to do that in a way that felt right for me.

At this point I am here to empower women to realize their dreams in all areas of their life, including through entrepreneurship. I believe as entrepreneurs we can create our own schedules that allow us to keep everything else in check. I can help women to launch a website, think through their business model, or feel into a good approach for their family dynamics and parenting skills. To balance the juggling act that is being a mom. And to tune into her own intuitive voice, amidst so many others around her. Her husband, her parents, siblings, in-laws, friends, community members, clients and more. The world, too. Sometimes it feels she has the weight of the world in her hands. There is so much potential to contribute to and receive from this complex world.
